About the Author
Jim Summaria is a veteran rock concert photographer whose photos have been published in numerous books, CDs, and publications. His lifelong passion for rock photography began as a 19-year-old armed with a Kodak Instamatic at a 1972 Rolling Stones concert. Thrilled with his first effort, he invested in a 35mm camera and a zoom lens, and sneaked onto the main floor of a Led Zeppelin concert to snap photos. One image was posted at a local record shop; the manager was impressed and hired the 20-year-old as the official photographer for a major Chicago concert promoter. Summaria went on to shoot every major rock act of the ’70s. After a “side trip†into a career in corporate photography, Summaria returned to the rock concert scene in 2008, photographing many of the same acts and creating the unique “then and now†portfolio few photographers have.

Classic Rock Photographs from Yesterday and Today. I Love this book! These photos make you feel upfront, close up and personal with all your favorites! Taken back in the days of film processing… The book has very vivid color saturation and expressive action shots of bands like Led Zeppelin, the Who, Jefferson Starship, Paul McCartney and Wings, Elvis Presley, Chicago, Marshall Tucker, The Rolling Stones, Heart, etc. Etc. ETC. The list goes on and on!!Fun and insightful information is paired with each picture. I highly recommend it!

Reading about and seeing pictures of these classic rock bands allows you to go back in time and revisit those places when you enjoyed listening to their music and perhaps seeing many of them perform in concert. Up close shots of some of rock's greatest in action in the 70s and 80s at Chicago's concert venues of the day. Also includes pics of the folks who are still at it. Brings back loads of memories for me as I was at quite a few of these concerts.
We've really enjoyed our first look through this book and will continue to enjoy it for a long time to come! The photos are terrific and bring back great memories of bands and musicians we've loved since our youth. The bullet points - tidbits of information about each artist - are fun and easy to read and we even learned something new about many of the artists. We recommend this book to anyone who loves classic rock (or even a single musician in this genre).
The next best thing to attending and listening to live music are the photos that allow you to relive those moments again and again.
