My eight year old son loves this series so far! This is his second book in the series. He typically does not enjoy reading that much but the back and forth way this book goes from comic style to paragraph style is really appealing to him.
Not only has my son devoured this series, he has also been enthusiastic to take the ideas from it and use them in Scratch. I cannot express how satisfying that is to see. I wish there were 20 books in the series - I would buy them all.
My son, who is 7, loves the series. It actually inspired him to say he wants to be a scientist and a coder. He loves decoding the chapter numbers from binary to decimal.
My favorite graphic novel series so far!! Gene Yang does it again. I have been a fan of his work for a while. He covers many different topics with his projects, so his range is vast. But this project is actually closer to his personal past. He made his living teaching coding in college, but now he has cleverly found a way to merge that experience into a creative project. Although Gene Luen Yang is a great cartoonist as well, he teamed up with another talented artist-Mike Holmes to do this series. This is book 4, and it tells the story of a young girl named Hopper and her two friends who are coders, and they struggle to solve a mystery and avoid bullies, at school. The book even teaches the reader the fundamentals of coding, and works it into the fabric of the story! Its a fun read, and worth a look.
Both my kids ages 7 & 10 loved this book.
9 year old can't get enough of this series and is already begging to get a copy of the next one.
GREAT book. We love the whole series.
