2 Stars. I am really sorry I bought this one. I cannot understand why an author has to repeat one problem on every page of the book. We get the first 20 or 30 times. I usually like this author....NOT this time
It just seemed bland to me. The story was predictable, the writing shallow. Don't tell me that the sun rose, make me see it as if I am there. Draw me into the lives of the characters. Invite me to join the wagon train.
Enjoyed reading a good, clean, Christian love story from a wagon train trail to Santa Fe. Look forward to reading the rest of the series. I was disappointed that the reviews from book.two has given away too much information about the character involved and the plot of the story. I won't be reading any more reviews. Please don't give us the details!
She has gone through so much hurt - by her grandfather thinking she was never good enough & even her father, though always kind, when she needed him - he thought she should just let the gossip subside. And worst of all, marrying a man but months later his real wife shows up - but she is left pregnant and wants to move away. So yes, she has a lot to overcome and to get past all the hurt & her thinking she was not worth anything -afterall, that is what she heard so often from her grandfather. The wagon train is a small one and there is almost danger then later real danger when she is kidnapped. Not a Short Story - is 240 pages & worth reading.
I loved the fact that the characters turned to their faith without becoming preachy. They are very relatable and realistic characters. Very well written. I can't wait to read her next book in the series!
Do you agree to his plan? Donna Grace and her younger sister are looking for a better life and now that her father won't be joining them on the trail to Santa Fe she is worried. Luke knows that he can help them she just needs to marry him so that they can continue their journey. Donna Grace really doesn't have a choice she needs to get Santa Fe before the baby comes so she agrees to his plan. Luke never wanted to get married as he lost his wife to be had been murdered and he blames himself he should have been with her so if he can help Donna Grace this will be part of his penance. Donna Grace can't really understand his reasons but she needs his help for now but everything doesn't go according to plan as someone kidnaps her and Luke fears that he has lost her for good. Can he get Donna Grace to stay with him for good as they are a good match and he has fallen for her and the baby? She is afraid that he might break her heart so he isn't too sure if she should take that chance? Can they work things out? A good read.
Story. I really enjoyed this Christian story. I loved how the author sprinkled Bible verses throughout. The characters were interesting and I look forward to reading more about their lives in the next book.
I love books about wagon trains and this book didn’t disappoint. This was a fun, easy read and look forward to reading book 2!
